Welcome to Counselling Rooms

We are a not-for-profit company based in Chorlton, South Manchester, that provides therapy rooms at very affordable rates to individual counsellors and psychotherapists. By doing this we support them to offer affordable therapy to their clients.

We have a diverse range of therapists working from our rooms, offering a range of therapeutic approaches and specialisms. We know that seeking a therapist can feel daunting and potential clients need reassurance they are in safe hands. All of the therapists working from our centre are fully qualified, are members of a reputable professional body and fully insured, and are in regular supervision. These are the standards a client should be able to expect of a competent and ethical counsellor/therapist.

Affordable therapy

We are committed to making counselling and psychotherapy available to as many people as possible, including people on low incomes. All of the therapists working from Counselling Rooms offer some of their sessions at reduced rates to people who otherwise could not afford to have therapy. Our reduced rate sessions are currently £25/hour. We ask potential clients who are looking for a reduced rate to speak directly with the therapist they are interested in working with to see if they have any availability.

Since we first started in 2011 we have provided over 8,000 reduced rate sessions to clients on low incomes, a contribution to the community equivalent to £160,000

Types of counselling we offer...

There are many kinds of counselling and psychotherapy offered by our therapists, enabling potential clients to find an approach that suits them and feels comfortable. These include Psychodynamic Therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Person-centred Counselling, Integrative Psychotherapy and  Transactional Analysis. If you are familiar with these terms and know what you are looking for, its possible to use our search tool to look for the type of therapy you prefer and see who offers it, then contact them directly for more information. Alternatively, if you are less sure about what type of therapy you need or would prefer, it’s also possible to search instead for the issue you are looking for help with and again, see who works with that issue, and what approaches they offer. All the therapists that work from Counselling Rooms will be happy to explain more about how they work and what their particular approach entails, so that you can make an informed decision as to what might be the best choice for you.

Psychodynamic counselling can help us to look at our distress in a safe space with an other. Doing this with a counsellor allows us to have the distress held so that we can start to think about how things really are for us.
